This house began with a memory. Over twenty years in Southeast Asia, and a life based in Bali.
One of our first memories of this part of the world is a guest house by the sea — the smell of salt in the room, the sound of waves at night, days that slowed down on their own. That image never really left us.
Living by the water had always been the dream. There are houses on the North coast of Bali that sit directly on the sea — but the right kind of beach is harder to find. The one in front of Primavera is alive: black volcanic sand, sometimes covered in pebbles the tide brings back the next day, with calm water and enough room to walk.

The quiet kind of beach where you're alone with the sea — and where the only company is the local fishermen heading out at dawn or a few Balinese kids laughing further down the shore. When we came across this house, we knew right away.
It needed work. We bought it and spent the months that followed renovating with a local team — keeping the bones of the original Balinese architecture, adding the infinity pool, the bale, the gardens, the small details that make it feel like home rather than a rental.
